Previous experience as a volunteer

At Charlbury Primary School here.

1. In September 2023, the Board of Governors advised the local community that it was looking for volunteer teachers.

3. I replied that I would like to help teach science on the basis of one session per fortnight.

5. After security checks had been set up, I gave one session in the presence of the science teacher.  The checks were completed before the next session.

7. That session, however, took place in a fire escape and playground  route which was far from satisfactory.

9. As I had heard nothing to the contrary, I turned up for the third session replete with train set etc.

11.  Half an hour later the science teacher came in and said she had sent an email earlier saying there would be no more sessions due to accommodation shortage.

13. I replied that a telephone call would have been more appropriate as I was loading the car.
14. 
    
15. Several days later I discussed the situation with the headteacher pointing out that she knew there was an accommodation crisis before I was taken on.
